a lone canary sings songs with golden french horns,
longing for his countermelody to be returned.
but no; not even the lonely melody
is as lonely as i,
without you.
the leaves of summer detach from their umbilical cords,
to swish colors onto asphalt, foliage of dreams.
but no; not even the most hesitant leaf
is as scared as i,
without you.
the rain pounds on the roof of my desire,
drowning the earth with life.
but no; not even the heaviest of storms
cries as much as i,
without you.
several hundred miles of angst and uncertainty,
cackling with gravel, snickering at my misfortune.
but no; not even the evil works of distance
can defeat me,
with you.
